
Bernadette John is a clarinetist based in Columbus, OH and Clarksville, TN. She is currently studying clarinet with Dr. Spencer Prewitt at Austin Peay State University, in pursuit of a master's degree in music performance. She holds a bachelor of music in music performance and a bachelor of science in business administration from Bowling Green State University, where she studied clarinet with Mr. Kevin Schempf and Mr. Georg Klaas.
Ms. John enjoys performing as a freelance musician and has been featured on recitals, composer forums, and other professional concerts. Ms. John has performed under the baton of prestigious conductors such as Dr. Craig Jessop, Dr. Kenneth Thompson, Dr. Gregory Wolynec, and Dr. Michael G. Martin.
In 2022, Ms. John was invited to perform as a Rising Artist at the International Clarinet Association's (ICA) ClarinetFest 2022 in Reno, NV. This performance included a presentation of two lesser-known clarinet works by Irish composers as part of the conference's 2022 theme Connecting People, Ideas and Cultures.
Ms. John is also a dedicated educator and maintains an active private studio while frequently leading sectionals and adjudicating solo and ensemble events. In her free time, Ms. John enjoys Irish and American fiddling, photography, and exploring the great outdoors.
