Israel Jimenez
Piano Instructor
Israel Jimenez, a native from Houston, Texas, is currently pursuing his Masters in vocal performance at Austin Peay State University. He studied music education and vocal
performance during his undergraduate studies with Dr. Brady Knapp at the University of St. Thomas in Texas. He currently studies voice under Dr. Jeffrey Williams and piano
under Professor Lydia Schoonover at Austin Peay.

Israel has performed with numerous churches in the Houston area and currently sings with the University Choir and Chamber Singers at Austin Peay and Sunday services at
Madison Street United Methodist Church. He also participates in Austin Peay’s Opera Workshop each semester where he performs scenes and roles from operas and
musical theater.

Israel’s teaching philosophy is as follows: “To increase the student’s knowledge and awareness of their own instrument. Helping them to maintain and use their voice in a healthy manner that demonstrates character, artistry, and appreciation for the arts. Everyone is different, and I believe in guiding others to not copy one another, but to grow as an individual. I view music with “newly prescribed glasses” and continuously
want to grow as a person, musician, and teacher. This way I may share with future generations all that I have gained.”
