Claire Burney, a native of Clarksville, TN, leads an active recording and performance career across multiple genres. She serves as Harpist for Paducah Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Kentucky and Gateway Chamber Orchestra. Claire also plays with Music City Hit-Makers and often shares the stage with many other awarding-winning artists.

 

Claire is passionate about sharing and developing the gift of music in students of all ages.

In addition to her career as an orchestral and freelance harpist, Claire founded and maintains the only professional harp studio in Clarksville. She is also Adjunct Professor of Harp at Austin Peay State University. 

 

Prior to collegiate studies, Claire completed all eight levels of the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music Harp Performance Examinations with honors. She studied Harp Performance at Austin Peay State University under the tutelage of Paula Bressman and earned her Master of Music at University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music under Gillian Benet Sella. She spent two summers at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival studying orchestral repertoire with Marian Shaffer and has appeared in masterclasses with Skaila Kanga, Elinor Bennet, Elizabeth Hainen and Yolanda Kondonassis.
